Congress Municipal President: Lama in Gokarneshwor, Shrestha in Shankharapur, Dahal in Kageshwori-Manhara
KATHMANDU: OCT. 3 – Kumar Lama has been elected as the chairman of the Nepali Congress Gokarneshwor Municipal Working Committee. Lama won the party’s 14th general convention by getting 109 votes from the city convention held on Saturday.
His nearest rival Ramji Shrestha got 93 votes. Similarly, Batukrishna Dhungel and Bikash Shrestha got 120 and 115 votes respectively. Jayaram Bista and Ramesh Rijal were elected as secretaries. Ashok Nepal and Gokul Prasad Simkhada have been elected as joint secretaries.
Former city president Shrikrishna Jyoti informed that the provision of nominating the treasurer is in the constitution of the Nepali Congress. Similarly, most of the members of the city working committee have also been elected from the Lama group.
Shrestha in Shankharapur
Dilip Kumar Shrestha has won the post of Shankharapur Municipality Chairman by getting 86 votes. His nearest rival Satyaman Lama got 68 votes. Milan Khadka and Amit Pradhan have been elected as the two vice-presidents.
Ratna Bahadur Tamang and Swayambhulal Shrestha were elected as secretaries. Basanta Theeng and Shri Ram Lamichhane have been elected as joint secretaries. It is believed that the democratic practice in the city convention will help strengthen the internal unity of the party.
Dahal in Kageshwori-Manhara
Congress has elected Uddhav Dahal as the chairman of the Kageshwori-Manhara Municipality. According to the tally, Dahal won with 151 votes. His nearest rival Mitharam Dahal got 138 votes, according to the Election Committee.
