Voting for Kathmandu Metropolis President begins
KATHMANDU: OCT. 3 – Voting for the post of Kathmandu Metropolis President has started under the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress. According to district president Krishna ‘Sabju’ Baniya, voting has started.
The Election Committee has fixed the polling time from 9 am to 1 pm today. The members of the working committee will be elected for the posts of chairman 1, deputy chairman 2, secretary 2 and joint secretary 2 through voting. Pragatiman Ranjit from the establishment party and Nilkaji Shakya from other groups are contesting for the chairmanship along with the panel.
Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba-Krishna Prasad Sitaula and leader Prakash Man Singh-Gagan Thapa will compete. Central member Bhimsen Das Pradhan has formed an alliance with the Deuba faction near Sitaula.
Subir Nath Khanal and Bharat Tandukar are contesting for the post of vice-president, Samjhana Bhattarai and Ramesh Upreti are contesting for the post of secretary and Indra Ratna Bajracharya and Muna Sitaula are contesting for the post of joint secretary.
Similarly, Santa Kumar Maharjan and Sushil Dhakal are vying for the post of vice-president, Sushan Baidya and Purushottam Khakurel are vying for the post of secretary and Bimala Lamichhane and Amrit Manandhar are vying for the post of joint secretary.
