NEW DELHI: OCT. 2 – Jasana Salim is happy to talk to her about her favourite subject. Her favourite subject is Bal Krishna, whose hands are in a bowl of butter and whose face is covered with butter.

Twenty-eight-year-old Jasna has been making such paintings continuously for the last six years and now she herself has presented the painting in the temple of Lord Krishna.

Jasana says that she is very happy to fulfil her dream of presenting paintings to Balakrishna.

Two days ago, Jasna had offered a picture of Balakrishna at the 80-year-old Ulaanadu Shrikrishna Swami Temple in the state of Kerala. This temple is located in Pandalam town of Patanmatitta district where Balakrishna is worshipped.

The temple committee found out that the picture mentioned by Jasna was offered in the famous Krishna temple of Guruvayur. After that, the committee had requested to make a picture for their temple as well. Jasna has no professional training in painting. Her husband told her about Lord Krishna and started telling her story.

How did she start painting?

Jasna told the BBC by phone from her home in Kozhikode, “When I felt Krishna’s beauty and charm, I started praising his life. One day I saw a picture of him and started drawing. This is the first time I have taken a picture in my life. I was pregnant at that time and used to think only about Krishna and look at his picture. ”

However, Jasana could not keep the picture in her house. Her husband feared that the family would be angry. She says, “I come from a conservative family. But the people in my house have no problem with my painting and drawing work.”

Jasna didn’t want to destroy the picture she had made. She says, “I can’t destroy it because this is the Krishna I made for the first time. So I gave that picture to a friend of mine from the Namboodari family.”

Jasna says, “The people of that family were surprised to see a Muslim making a picture of Lord Krishna. They also said that his wishes would be fulfilled.” Since then, she has been making pictures of Sri Krishna according to her interests.

Why does she paint a picture of Balakrishna?

The inspiration for Jasana was the face of Lord Krishna, which she found very charming. He has tied his hands in the first picture of Krishna made by Jasna. But, later she saw a picture of Lord Krishna touching a pot of butter and from then on she started making similar pictures.

She was once asked why she only makes pictures of Lord Krishna with butter and earthenware.

He replied, “Looking at the picture of Krishna with his hand in the pot, it seems that he is scared that someone else will run away with the pot. However, the picture of Krishna with butter in his hand is very beautiful because it shows a person satisfied with his favourite food.”

When Jasna started making the picture, her uncle advised her to give it to the Guruvayur temple. Many people from Guruvayur saw her picture and said that she was very beautiful. “The most interesting aspect of this picture is that it shows the playful behaviour of the child Krishna.

It makes you happy to see this picture, “says JPK Nair of Tatwamasi, a Pune-based spiritual organization. The spiritual organization is the sponsor of this picture. Jasana says, “The only benefit I get from drawing is the mental satisfaction I get from it.”
