Lalitpur wins in EPL, Biratnagar’s playoff chances are weak

KATHMANDU: OCT. 1 – Lalitpur Patriots have won the Everest Premier League (EPL) Cricket.

Lalitpur, the highest target of the EPL, defeated Biratnagar Warriors by 37 runs. Biratnagar lost 6 wickets in 20 overs and managed to score only 189 runs. With the win, Lalitpur still has a chance to reach the playoffs.

Azmatullah Omarzai took 4 wickets for Lalitpur. Similarly, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi took 2 wickets and Yogendra Singh Karki took 1 wicket.

Dilshan Munaweera scored 59 runs for Biratnagar but it was not enough for the team to win. Aashif Sheikh scored 37 runs.

After losing the toss in Kirtipur, Lalitpur lost 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and made a total of 226 runs. Sandun Weerakkody and Azmatullah Omarzai scored 73 and 58 runs respectively for Lalitpur. Captain Kushal Bhurtel contributed 32 runs and Yogendra Singh Karki contributed 27 runs.

Biratnagar captain Karan KC took two wickets and Sikandar Raza, Pratis GC and Dilshan Munaweera took one wicket each. With the defeat, the possibility of Biratnagar’s playoff selection has become difficult. Biratnagar could not add even one point in three games.
