“Patient was not taken hostage, it was rumour”
BIRATNAGAR: OCT. 1 – The Nobel Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar has objected to the misinformation that the patient has been taken, hostage. Nobel objected, saying the hospital had been discredited without cause by linking it to an out-of-hospital pharmacy.
Director of Nobel Hospital Dr Rajesh Nepal has issued a press release urging everyone not to fall into the trap of false propaganda. Binod Rishidev died while undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of Nobel Hospital.
During the treatment, the relatives of the patients had taken medicine from the pharmacy outside the hospital premises. The problem arose when Rishidev’s family could not pay the remaining amount of medicine at the pharmacy.
Meanwhile, the hospital had waived Rs 92,000 after the patient’s family complained that they could not pay for the treatment. However, the hospital objected, saying that some media outlets were trying to tarnish the image of the hospital by mentioning its name.
The hospital’s statement added that the headline of the news and the photo had a negative impact on the hospital when the name of the hospital was added to the remaining arrears of medicines taken from the out-of-hospital dispensary.
“Even though the hospital has released the remaining arrears during the treatment of Binod Rishidev due to his financial condition, the hospital has an objection that the responsible media has misunderstood the news without understanding the situation and we request him to rectify it immediately.”
