NEW DELHI: SEPT. 30 – The Taliban had written to India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), asking it to resume commercial flights between India and Afghanistan, the Asian News International (ANI) reported on Wednesday.

According to ANI, a letter from the Taliban had been received by the Indian government and was under review by the civil aviation ministry.

“Taliban’s Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan writes to DGCA to resume commercial flights to Afghanistan (Kabul). Letter under review by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA),” the agency said.

India had stopped all commercial flight operations to Kabul after Aug. 15, when the Taliban took control of the Central Asian country.

Reports said last week the Taliban made similar requests to airlines from several other countries.

Suspension of international flights had left many Afghans stranded abroad and prevented people from travelling to Afghanistan.
