Real stunned with newcomer Tiraspol
AGENCY: SEPT. 29 – Spanish giants Real Madrid have unexpectedly lost to Champions League newcomer Sheriff Tiraspol. The Eastern European country of Moldova’s Sheriff Tiraspol club has continued its sensational performance. Sharif beat Real 2-1 at home in their second win of the Champions League this season.
13-time European champions Real Madrid lost 2-1 to Sheriff Tiraspol in the second match of Group D on Tuesday night, with Yakhshiboev trailing in the 25th minute.
Karim Benzema equalized for Real Madrid on a penalty in the 65th minute. But with one minute left in the game, home fans were stunned when Sebastien Thill scored the winning goal for Sharif.
Sheriff, who has won two matches in a row, has reached the top spot with six points. Sheriff had earlier beaten Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 in the first match. Real Madrid is in second place with three points.
In the other match of the same group, Inter Milan and Shakhtar Donetsk drew 0-0. In other matches on Tuesday night, Ajax beat Besiktas 2-0 and Borussia Dortmund beat Sporting 1-0. Real had earlier beaten Inter Milan 1-0 in their first match.
