DARCHULA: SEPT. 29 – The communication of the trilateral border, which is of strategic importance, has become out of touch. Communication has been cut off in Chhangaru and Tinkar of Byans Rural Municipality due to the non-functioning of mobile phones. Yogesh Bohara, a resident of Chhangru, said that the locals were facing problems as Nepal Telecom’s Sky Phone, which had been blocked since last year, was not working.
The locals who moved to Kuncha last April / May have not been able to call. “Sometimes we wouldn’t be in a position to report anything if Vianet didn’t work,” said Bohara.
Vianet also has a problem it doesn’t always work. He said that sometimes he had to stay out of contact for months. Nepal Telecom’s Sky phone does not work. Locals say that Sky has not been able to work even though Telecom Chief Krishna Bahadur Gurung went to repair it twice.
Although the Telecom Tower, which has been running 4G services in Chhangaru for a year, has been connected, it has not been brought into operation yet. Despite the work of the tower, it could not be operated when the required equipment arrived, the telco said.
In Tinkar village, however, no phone works. The sky tower in Chhangaru does not work in Tinkar village. Gurung said that the survey was conducted to keep Telecom Tower for Tinker this year. Gurung informed that the Sky Tower in Chhangaru could not work due to a lack of solar power. Power has not been saved due to the lack of regular sunlight.
He said that additional solar panels have been demanded for Chhangru. Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have also been facing problems when mobile phones do not work. A landline phone has been connected to the Armed Police Force Nepal No. 50 Gulm in Chhangaru. Security personnel say that there is a problem when the landline is not operating regularly.
