Terrorism is the enemy of human existence: Minister Khadka
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 28 – Foreign Minister Dr Narayan Khadka has said that the recent developments in Afghanistan are a matter of concern for all. Addressing the 76th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York this morning, he described the latest developments in Afghanistan as a matter of “common concern”.
Khadka called on all parties in Afghanistan to reach a consensus for peace, security and stability. “The basic rights of Afghan citizens must be ensured, they must be able to live with dignity,” Khadka said in his address. Stating that terrorism is the enemy of human existence, Minister Khadka said that Nepal was opposed to terrorism.
Minister Khadka clarified that Nepal was against the nuclear arms race as it would raise questions about world peace and coexistence. Khadka said that the stability of the conflict-ridden countries including Afghanistan and Libya was his own internal issue and Nepal was confident that it would be resolved through mutual understanding.
Making the people safe is the first priority
He said that making the people safe from the COVID-19 epidemic, which is a challenge for the global human community, was Nepal’s first priority. He informed the General Assembly that the current government is working to make the people safe from corona infection by giving high priority to vaccination management and vaccination.
Minister Khadka also said that the Government of Nepal has put forward an action plan with the aim of vaccinating all Nepali people within the next six months. Foreign Minister Khadka lauded the interest and priority shown by the United Nations in managing the crisis of COVID-19 and the prevalence of vaccination. Explaining that Nepal has pursued a policy of relations and brotherhood based on world peace, coexistence and equality, Minister Khadka also discussed Nepal’s contribution to the peacebuilding work of different countries of the world.
In his address, Minister Khadka also mentioned that Nepal is a unique country a tourist destination as there are many mountains above 8,000 meters including the world’s highest peak, Everest. Minister Khadka informed that Nepal has given priority to mitigating the effects of natural disasters and climate change.
Foreign Minister Khadka is currently in New York, USA, leading a Nepali delegation to attend the UN General Assembly.
