Famous human rights activist Kamala Bhasin dies
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 25 – Prominent human rights activist Kamala Bhasin has died at the age of 75. Activist Kavita Srivastava has confirmed her death at 3 am this morning.
She noted that Bhasin’s death had shaken the women’s movement in India and South Asia. “Our friend Kamala Bhasin passed away at 3 am this morning,” Srivastava wrote on Twitter. Despite the difficult circumstances, she made life festive. ‘

Born in Rajasthan on April 24, 1946, Bhasin was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago. Bhasin, a founder of Sangat, a women’s rights group working in South Asian countries, worked for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization from 1976 to 2001 before joining the campaign.
Her famous poems include “Laughing Matters” (2005), “Exploring Masculinity” (2004), “Borders and Boundaries: Women in India’s Partition” (1998) and “What is Petriark” and “Kyunki Main Ladki hoon, Mujhe Padhna Hai” ( 1965).
