KATHMANDU: SEPT. 24 – ANNFSU has demanded the government to provide sanitary pads free of cost. In a press release issued on Friday, Chairperson Sunita Baral objected to the increase in the price of sanitary pads used by women during menstruation and demanded that they be made available free of cost.
Demanding to provide free and compulsory sanitary pads to the students, ANNFSU has demanded the government immediately repeal the 10 per cent customs duty and 13 per cent VAT on sanitary pads.
“Sanitary pads used by about 4 billion people around the world and about 15 million women in Nepal have received serious attention from the current government for 10 per cent customs duty and 13 per cent VAT,” the statement said. ‘
