Nepali women’s cricket team to train in Itahari

BIRATNAGAR: SEPT. 22 – The preliminary Nepali women’s cricket team, which will play in the Asian region qualifiers for the ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup 2022, will train in Itahari, Sunsari.

At a press conference held in Itahari to give information about the training, trainer Jagat Tamata said that the training will start from Thursday. He said that the training would be held in the indoor hall and ground of Itahari Regional Stadium for a week.

For the game, Nepal Cricket Association CAN will train Nepali women players in small groups. In the first phase, the training was conducted in Mahendranagar of Kanchanpur from Sept. 12 to Sept. 18 as per the plan to train the players in three major places of the country.

After the training in Itahari, the final phase of training will be held in Kathmandu, said Tamata. A month ago, CAN announced the name of the first Nepali women’s cricket team to play in the Asian region.

Eleven players from Jhapa, Morang and Ilam, including three from State 2, will participate in the training, said program coordinator Biplav Ghosh.

According to CAN, the Asian selection for the Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in Malaysia will be held from November 23 to November 28. Bhutan, China, Kuwait, Malaysia, Myanmar, UAE and Hong Kong will play in the qualifying round.
