Preparations to expand the government after the decision on 14 MPs
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 20 – The ruling parties are preparing to expand the government as soon as the Supreme Court rules on 14 lawmakers of the CPN-Unified Socialist Party. According to the leaders of the coalition, a hearing has been scheduled for Monday, Sept. 20 on whether to issue an interim order on the issue of action taken by the UML against the 14 lawmakers registered with the Supreme Court.
Coalition leaders said they believed an interim order would be issued today. They claim that the government will expand after that. A leader in the task force to select the ministers said, “The government has decided to expand after the Supreme Court issued an order against 14 lawmakers.”
Leaders are saying that the government will be expanded within a week, even though they have not said anything about what will happen if an interim order is not issued by the Supreme Court. Chairman of the CPN-Unified Socialist Madhav Kumar Nepal said that he was ready to join the government within a week after reaching Pokhara on Sunday. However, the People’s Socialist Party has not yet taken a concrete decision.
A People’s Socialist Party leader said that they are thinking of joining the government only after finalizing the ordinance on political parties. ‘The UML issue is at the top. If it finds a way out, what will happen to the ordinance related to political parties? It is easy to decide on that. After that, there is a strong vote within the party to join the government, ”he said.
Chief Whip at the CPN-Maoist Center, Dev Gurung, said that the expansion of the government would take place soon. However, he said that it would take some time for the government to get perfection. “There are some issues. There are grounds for the government to expand in a few days. “Let’s just say we believe in it now,” he said.
