UML obstruction: National Assembly meeting postponed without entering main agenda
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 15 – The meeting of the National Assembly has been postponed without entering the main agenda due to the obstruction of the main opposition CPN-UML.
The meeting has been adjourned till September 22 after the UML lawmakers rose to protest and passed a condolence resolution on the demise of Constituent Assembly member Man Bahadur Mahato.
On Wednesday, Parashuram Meghi Gurung, chairman of the Legislative Management Committee, was the first to present the committee’s report on the Immigration Bill, 2076 BS.
In the second agenda, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba would propose to send the Food Hygiene and Quality Bill, Public Service Broadcasting Bill, Record Preservation (First Amendment) Bill and Security Printing Bill to the Legislative Management Committee for clause-wise discussion.
After the obstruction of UML lawmakers, National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timalsina removed the two main issues from the agenda and postponed the meeting by passing only a condolence motion.
