Effort to open tourist sites in Pokhara
POKHARA: SEPT. 15 – With the second wave of COVID-19, tourist destinations in and around Pokhara have come to a complete standstill. Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Gandaki has held a collective discussion to open all tourist destinations.
Stating that it would be sad to close the tourist spot in Pokhara when the world tourism market is open, the participants said that it should be opened following the health standards. Chairman of NATTA Gandaki Sanjaykant Sigdel said that it has become mandatory to open corona-affected tourism. NATTA has taken initiative to create an environment for tourists to visit along with cleaning the tourist areas.
In collaboration with Nepal Tourism Board and UNDP, a sanitation action plan has been brought to provide 15 days of employment to the tourism workers affected by the corona. Chairman of the Pokhara Tourism Council Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai said that the tourism market would further slow down if the destinations were not opened on time. “It simply came to our notice then. Otherwise, tourists who want to come to Nepal will also go elsewhere, ‘he said.’ First, the government’s tourism policy should be clear. That’s what we call tourists. ‘
Nabin Pokhrel, Manager, Nepal Tourism Board, Gandaki State, urged all to contribute from their respective areas to make corona-affected tourism operational.
