Champions League from today: Barcelona and Bayern clash

KATHMANDU: SEPT. 14 – The new season of the prestigious European football competition UEFA Champions League is starting from today. In the first match of the group stage, Barcelona will face German champions Bayern Munich at home today.

Barcelona will take on Bayern at the Nou Camp at 12:45 pm Nepali time. Barcelona are still shocked by the game against Bayern in the quarter-finals on 15 March 2020, when Barcelona lost 8-2. Without Lionel Messi, this season, Barcelona’s challenge will be further compounded.

Despite the home game, the Barcelona player is also suffering from injuries. Defender Sergino Dest, along with young forwards Ansu Fati, Sergio Aguero, Ousmane Dembele and Martin Braithwaite, will not play Baron.

Memphis Depay, Luuk de Jong, Frenkie de Jong, Sergio Busquets, Pedri, Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique, Ronald Araujo, Sergio Roberto and goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter Stegen will all be in the Barcelona squad.

German champions Bayern will try to remind the home team of old history. Bayern’s squad includes Robert Lewandowski, Leroy Sane, Kingsley Coman, Jamal Musiala, Thomas Muller, Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, Alphonso Davies, Lucas Hernandez, Dayot Upamecano, Benjamin Pavard and goalkeeper Nathan.

The two teams have played one match seven times so far, while Bayern have won five and Barcelona have won just two.

United, Chelsea and Juventus also compete

Manchester and United will compete with the Young Boys in the European Champions League on Tuesday night.

Similarly, when Chelsea compete with Gent, Juventus will face Malmo. Sevilla will play Salisbury Benfica, Dynamo Kyiv and Villarreal will play Atlanta and Lille will play Wolfsburg.
