Nepal’s 5 wicket win over USA, Kushal and Rohit’s half century
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 14 – Nepal has won the first match of triangular one-day cricket under ICC World Cricket League Division Two. In the first match, Nepal defeated USA by 5 wickets.
Nepal reached the target of 231 runs by losing 5 wickets with one over left. Kushal Bhurtel scored the highest 84 runs for Nepal. Similarly, Rohit Poudel remained unbeaten on 62 runs. Similarly, Binod Bhandari scored 37, Aasif Sheikh 23 and captain Gyanendra Malla 17 runs.
Opener Kushal also scored his first half-century in ODI cricket. He struck three sixes and three fours in 93 balls before being out for 84 runs.
Kushal has also become the highest run-scoring opener in a single inning. Overall, the run scored by Kushal is the third-highest by a Nepali player in ODIs. In 2019, Paras Khadka scored 115 runs against UAE and Rohit Kumar Poudel scored 86 runs against PNG a few days ago.
Aasif and Kushal shared 66 runs for the first wicket to pave the way for the victory of the Nepali team.
When the team scored 93 runs, Nepal lost the wicket of captain Gyanendra for the second wicket. Kushal and Rohit shared 51 runs for the third wicket. Kushal Malla was out for just one run.
Batting first after winning the toss, USA scored 230 runs for the loss of nine wickets and Nepal got the target of 231 runs.
Nepal’s Bikram Sob, Sushan Bhari and Sandeep Lamichhane took two wickets each and Kushal Malla took one wicket.
Monank Patel of USA scored 100 runs.
In the second match of the series, Nepal will now play with Oman on Tuesday (today).
