Public Service Bill passed by the National Assembly

KATHMANDU: SEPT. 13 – The National Assembly has passed a bill related to the Public Service Commission. A meeting of the National Assembly on Monday passed the bill by a majority.

The lawmakers of the main opposition CPN-UML had been protesting in the meeting from the very beginning. They were still standing when the bill was passed.

The bill related to the Public Service Commission, which was introduced in the House of Representatives on September 11, 2019, was passed by the House of Representatives on June 23, 2020. The bill that came to the National Assembly was also passed by the National Assembly.

Now the bill goes to the House of Representatives with the message passed by the National Assembly. After being re-passed by the House of Representatives, it becomes the Speaker and after reaching the President, it becomes a law and is implemented.

The bill has a constitutional provision to have public service commissions in the federation and the states. The passed bill covers issues including the jurisdiction of the Union and Provincial Public Service Commissions. After this bill becomes law and is implemented, the State Public Service Commission will also be able to work including advertisement.
