The Speaker called an all-party meeting to end the stalemate in the parliament
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 13 – An all-party meeting convened by Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota to end the ongoing stalemate in the parliament is being held this afternoon. Sunday’s meeting was adjourned until Tuesday after the main opposition UML continued to obstruct parliament.
Speaker Sapkota wants to resolve the dispute before that. According to Speaker’s Press Adviser Shridhar Neupane, the meeting will be held at Lhotse Hall at 2:30 pm today.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister and Congress parliamentary party leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, Leader of Opposition KP Sharma Oli, Maoist Center parliamentary party leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, CPN-S parliamentary party leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, JSP parliamentary party leader Upendra Yadav, LOSAPA leader Mahanta Thakur and Janamorcha’s Durga Poudel, Prem Suwal of NCP and Rajendra Lingden of RPP have been called.
The ninth session of the parliament has started from Sept. 8. Since then, the UML has been blocking the meeting.
