Government prepares for celebrating 57th Children’s Day

KATHMANDU: SEPT. 12 – The government is preparing to observe the 57th National Children’s Day on coming September 14 around the theme- ‘Protection of child rights, our collective responsibility.

Information about this was shared by the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens and the National Child Rights Council at Singha Durbar today. The Day will mark the sharing of thematic efforts and achievements in regard to the protection and promotion of child rights.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will give a best wishes message on the occasion of the Day while Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to inaugurate a virtual programme to be organised by the Main Celebration Committee.

Three two-minute video clips entitled ‘Child Rights in the Federal Nepal’ adjudged the best will be released and the winners will be awarded on the occasion.

Besides, programmes from the street to the stadium and the Rugby training will be kicked off on the same day.

Moreover, a digital hangout programme and an oratory on the topic of ‘impact of COVID-19’ and ways for the solution will take place in every state on September 15.

According to Ministry Secretary Yam Kumari Khatiwada, discussions about the review of policies relating to child rights and future course of action have been scheduled on the same occasion.

The Secretary was of the opinion that child rights issues were not getting proper space in media.

Council executive director Milan Dharel shared that the establishment of structures for the protection of child rights is taking place at local levels as per the new legal provision.
