Government prepares to formulate export promotion policy
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 12 – Finance Minister Janardan Sharma said the budget has put forward various policy programs to reduce the country’s growing imports and encourage exports.
He said this at a press conference organized at the Ministry of Finance on Sunday to clarify the budget ordinance replacement bill.
He said that they are trying to create an environment for producing goods within the country as much as possible as imports are increasing in the country and the trade deficit has increased.
Last year, Nepal had achieved the target of cutting exports by Rs 100 billion. He said that the government has made policy arrangements through the focus budget to promote exports.
Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini said that the government has a policy of discouraging imports as much as possible and emphasizing on domestic production to make the import-based economy a production-based economy.
