UML prepares to block parliament meeting
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 12 – The meeting of the House of Representatives is also being held on Sunday (today). According to the Parliament Secretariat, the meeting will start at 1 pm.
The main opposition party, the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), is preparing to block the meeting again. UML, which has been blocking the parliament since Sept. 8, had also blocked the meeting on Sept. 10. The meeting, which was once adjourned for 15 minutes, then moved on. Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota did not stop the meeting. Despite the UML’s sloganeering, the speaker continued the meeting.
Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has presented the replacement budget amidst sloganeering in the meeting. After that, the UML, further irritated, is preparing to block the parliament even today. For that, a meeting of the parliamentary party of UML will be held at 12 noon. “That meeting will decide how to block the parliament,” said Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, an MP.
Chief Whip of the parliamentary party Bishal Bhattarai says that the protest will continue till their demands are addressed. “We are blocking it even today,” said Bhattarai. The sun must shine on the speaker’s watch. ‘
The government has already tabled the ordinance amidst the UML’s slogan against the ordinance on political parties brought by the government.
