Parliament meeting adjourned till Sunday
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 10 – The meeting of the House of Representatives, which was held amid the slogans of the main opposition party Communist Party of Nepal (UML), has been postponed till September 12. The meeting that started at 1 pm on Friday was postponed twice due to UML’s sloganeering.
Earlier, UML lawmakers, who became more aggressive after the ordinance on political parties was tabled in the meeting, spent about three and a half hours in the parliament today chanting slogans.
However, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota did not stop the meeting. Speaker Sapkota, who had attracted the attention of the lawmakers at the beginning and ruled the UML lawmakers to stay in their seats, continued to hold the meeting after the first adjournment, while the UML lawmakers were chanting slogans such as ‘work for parliamentary dignity, the party cannot be split.
The meeting, which was held amidst the slogans of UML lawmakers, has also approved three ordinances. The meeting approved Financial Ordinance 2078, National Debt Raising Ordinance 2078 and Appropriation Bill 2078.
Finance Minister Janardan Sharma also presented a bill to replace the financial ordinance in the meeting. Now, the next meeting will be held again on September 12 at 1 pm.
