Ward convention by mobilizing police in Deuba’s home district
DHANGADHI: SEPT. 10 – A ward convention has started in Dadeldhura, the home district of Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Though the district working committee boycotted the ward convention after a dispute over the distribution of active membership, the election committee started the convention by mobilizing police.
The election committee has stated that the election process has already started in 48 out of 52 wards of seven local levels of the district. Election Officer Lokendra Bahadur Bam informed that discussions are underway to start the convention in the remaining wards as well.
A large number of police personnel from the Nepal Police Training Center and Riot Police Battalion have been deployed to hold the ward convention.
According to Mahendra Nepal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Dadeldhura, security has been tightened after a big dispute over the convention.
Congress Dadeldhura president Karna Bahadur Malla said that they would not participate in the convention which was held by force without resolving the membership dispute.
It is alleged that the decision was taken by the party from the centre.
It is alleged that the Congress Dadeldhura District Working Committee has sent the names of 460 active members from the ward, municipality and state assembly election regional committees as well as the district working committee to renew the active members from four levels and send them to the center.
Similarly, a controversy has arisen after the names of 312 people were added to the list and the voter list was made public. Earlier, there was a scuffle between the two groups.
