Vice President Fatema said, “What happened in Nepal about MCC should not have happened.”

KATHMANDU: SEPT. 9 – MCC Vice President Fatema Sumar has expressed her displeasure over the controversy over MCC in Nepal. The delegation led by Fatema, who arrived in Kathmandu only on Thursday (today) morning, first met the Leader of the Opposition and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. During the talks with Oli, Fatema was upset about the dispute. “What is happening in Nepal right now with regard to the MCC,” UML foreign affairs chief Rajan Bhattarai said, quoting Fatema.

In response, Oli said, “We are now the main opposition. We have nothing to speak about in Parliament.” Fatema said that considering the situation in Nepal, MCC tried to help. ‘MCC stuck in Parliament due to role of Speaker’

During the talks, Oli said that the MCC could not move forward due to the role of the Speaker. “It simply came to our notice then. Ask for our opinion, we are ready to play our role, ‘Oli told Fatema.

Krishna Bahadur Mahara, who came from the Maoist centre’s quota, was the speaker when the MCC was tabled in the parliament. After Mahara’s suspension, Agni Prasad Sapkota is still the Speaker from the Maoist quota. The Maoist MCC is of the view that it should not be passed without amendment.
