Sankhuwasabha Massacre: Cremation of Ranjana, Deepak and Goma in the same pyre
ITAHARI: SEPT. 9 – The bodies of six people killed in Sankhuwasabha have been cremated in Itahari.
The bodies of Parbata, 84, wife of Boudhaman Karki of Madi Municipality-1, son Tej Bahadur, 53, daughter-in-law (Tej Bahadur’s wife) Kamala, 52, Ranjana, 32, daughter-in-law of Tej Bahadur and grandson Dipen, 11, and granddaughter Goma Karki, 5 were found dead in the morning.
They were cremated at Budi Khola Mukti Ghat in Itahari on Wednesday evening. Ranjana, Deepak and Goma are cremated in the same pyre. Tej Bahadur and Kamala were cremated in the same pyre and Parbata in a separate pyre.
Speaking at a press conference after the funeral, the relatives of the deceased have suspected that the murder may have taken place in the morning. Tilak Karki, a relative of the deceased, said that the incident had taken place in the morning. Stating that the incident was mysterious, he demanded a serious investigation and action against the culprit.
The bodies of the deceased were brought to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for postmortem on Tuesday evening and their postmortem was completed on Wednesday and they were cremated in the evening.
Police are still investigating the incident on the spot.
