Two vice presidents of MCC is to come Kathmandu today
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 9 – US Agency for International Development Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Vice President Fatema Sumar and Assistant Vice President Jonathan Brooks are arriving in Nepal today. A team including two vice-presidents is landing in Kathmandu from a Qatar Air flight at 9:30 am for a four-day visit to Nepal.
Before arriving in Kathmandu, Vice President Sumar on Wednesday sent a reply to a letter sent by the government with questions raised at the Nepali people’s level about MCC. Answering all the questions recently asked by the government on the MCC project, Sumar has addressed Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma. The MCC has made it clear that Nepal’s constitution will automatically be above the agreement and that the grant will not be linked to any military strategy. However, the agreement has not been amended.
The grant agreement of 55 billion related to the construction of power transmission lines and road maintenance was registered in the Bill Branch of the House of Representatives on July 15, 2019, for the approval of the Parliament.
