Writ against Kulman’s appointment in the bench of Chief Justice JB Rana

KATHMANDU: SEPT. 5 – Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana will see the writ petition seeking revocation of the appointment of Kulman Ghising as the executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority. The writ petition was filed by JB Rana in his own sitting today.

NEA’s then-executive director Hitendra Dev Shakya had filed a writ petition against Kulman’s appointment. Shakya claims that the government has appointed Ghising as the chief executive by removing him illegally.

Earlier, a bench of Chief Justice JB Rana had ordered to take out the decision of the Council of Ministers to appoint Ghising as the executive director, the decision of the NEA steering committee meeting and the final file of the agreement reached between Shakya and NEA.

The cabinet meeting held on August 9 had decided to re-appoint Ghising to NEA and Shakya as an expert in the Energy Commission. Earlier, as Ghising’s term was coming to an end, the Oli government was also under pressure from the people to extend Ghising’s tenure.
