Deuba challenges Basnet to defeat Thapa
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 3 – Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has challenged Mahesh Basnet to defeat party president Durlav Thapa of Bhaktapur in the upcoming election.
Inaugurating the party’s ward convention from Bhaktapur on Friday, Prime Minister Deuba challenged Basnet to defeat Thapa.
A few days ago, UML leader Basnet from Bhaktapur said that he would easily win the election if Sher Bahadur Deuba came to Bhaktapur to contest the election.
Stating that the party organization would be made stronger by selecting the leadership from the democratic process, Deuba also instructed the leaders and cadres to work together for the success of the general convention. President Deuba expressed confidence that Congress would be strong and powerful in the days to come.
Similarly, Bhaktapur Congress district president Durlav Thapa said that the party should be united from the convention to the general convention. He also said that he would play a strong role in making the party the first party in the upcoming elections.
Chairman Deuba inaugurated the ward convention at Suryabinayak-5 in Bhaktapur. Congress has already made public the schedule for the ward convention and the election from September 6. The ward chairperson, working committee and regional representatives will be elected from the ward convention.
