Kushe Aunsi Mela will not be held at Gokarneshwor Mahadev Temple this year as well
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 2 – The Kushe Aunsi Mela, which will be held in the Gokarneshwar Mahadev Temple area this year, has been postponed due to the coronavirus risk of the new variant.
The decision was made at the meeting of the Gokarneshwor Mahadev Temple District Management Committee today.
Shri Kumar Shrestha, Chairman of Gokarneshwor Municipality-4, said that he is also the chairman of the committee. He said that at a time when the coronavirus infection rate was on the rise, the fair held in the presence of millions of believers had to be postponed due to health problems.
Every year on Bhadrakrishna Aunsi Day, millions of devotees come to Gokarneshwar Mahadev Temple in the name of the late father to donate water, siddan and pinda. There is a religious belief that if people come here on the day of Bhadrakrishna Aunsi and donate Jaldan, Siddhan and Pinda, the ancestors of as many as 21 clans will flee.
He also said that the temple would be closed on Teej and Panchami days. A meeting of the Gokarneshwor Mahadev Temple Area Management Committee on Saturday had decided to postpone fairs in the temple area. The committee has issued a public notice informing that other than regular worship, other worships have been stopped.
However, the temple was open on all Mondays of Shrawan and Janai Purnima.
