UML is going to the Supreme Court with three writs
KATHMANDU: SEPT. 1 – The main opposition party CPN (UML) is going to the Supreme Court with three issues. The UML is going against the Election Commission, Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota and Speaker of Lumbini State Purna Bahadur Ghartimagar. According to UML chief whip Bishal Bhattarai, UML will go to court by this afternoon.
An earlier meeting of the Central Committee had decided to seek legal redressal against the Election Commission and Speaker Sapkota. Accordingly, UML will go to the top, says Bhattarai. “Writing and other works have been completed,” Bhattarai said. “We will go to the Supreme Court by this afternoon.”
UML is going to the Supreme Court saying that the action taken by the party against the 14 lawmakers was stopped by Speaker Sapkota and the Election Commission issued the party registration certificate stating the identities of the lawmakers.
Similarly, UML is also filing a petition against Lumbini Speaker Ghartimagar. Speaker Ghartimagar is going to the Supreme Court saying that the party’s recommendation for action against MPs Ajay Shahi and Vimala Wali has not been implemented.
UML is going to submit all three writs at once.
