KATHMANDU: AUGUST 30 – Due to continuous rains, the flow of Saptakoshi River has spread up to 300 meters in the coastal area of ​​Belaka Municipality.

According to Mayor Durga Kumar Thapa, the floods have affected 2,400 families in wards 2, 3, 8 and 9 of the river bank.

The coastal area includes Dumribot, Sombare, Masanghat, Ramnagar as well as Dhauri and Sri Lanka Tapu.

According to Krishna Bahadur Bhujel of Ramnagar, the water flow has crossed the river bank till 10 pm on Sunday and entered the village at a distance of 300 meters.

Mayor Thapa said that the residents have been relocated at night as the floods have started entering the settlement.

According to the District Administration Office, a team of Armed Police Force and Nepal Police has been mobilized since Sunday to keep the village safe by preventing possible erosion in the coastal area.

Karna Magar of Dumribot said that there was no danger of erosion in other places even though the land was being eroded in some places due to the rising river.
