KATHMANDU: AUGUST 30 – Krishna Janmashtami festival is being celebrated all over the country today by worshipping Lord Krishna.
Krishna Janmashtami, also known simply as Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. It is observed according to the Hindu lunisolar calendar, on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in Bhadrapada, which overlaps with August or September of the Gregorian calendar.

On this day, devotees flock to Krishna temples across the country to worship Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna has been a religious figure who has inspired the human community to do good deeds in favour of the truth.
Today, a fair is held at the famous Krishna Temple in Mangal Bazar, Patan. This year, the temple is closed due to COVID-19, so devotees have returned by worshipping from outside.
