Bhatta, a senior progressive writer dies at 86
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 30 – Noted progressive literary writer Anand Dev Bhatta has died at the age of 86. Bhatta, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, died at the age of 86 on Monday morning.
Bhatta had been staying at his residence in Kalikasthan after treatment at the hospital last month. He has been active in Nepali literature, teaching and progressive thought for a long time. Bhatta’s works are especially popular including ‘Sailimaiya’, ‘Ama Bolauchhin’ and ’97 Saal ‘.
Born in Jumla in 1993, Bhatta is a former president of the Progressive Writers ‘Association and the Progressive Professors’ Association.
His body will be laid to rest at Pashupati Aryaghat and will be cremated, said Prof Dr Jiveendra Dev Giri, president of the Progressive Writers’ Association. Bhatta has a wife and two sons.
