KATHMANDU: AUGUST 26 – Confusion has increased as to when the class 12 examination will be held. The exam, which has been postponed due to COVID-19, has raised uncertainty as to when it will begin.

The National Examination Board had made public the schedule for the examination to be held from 15 August. However, the board meeting held on 7 August had postponed the examination until further notice. The COVID-19 Crisis Management Center had written to the board to postpone the examination.

In coordination with the CCMC, the status of the infection will be assessed and a new examination schedule will be published with at least 15 days notice. However, the National Examination Board, Sanothimi, has stated that no decision has been taken on the new schedule even 19 days after the notification was issued.

‘No such decision has been made yet regarding the new examination schedule being made public. Probably after the student’s vaccination program! ‘Said an official of the board.

Meanwhile, the Education and Health Committee of the House of Representatives has directed the government to conduct the examination as soon as possible in the physical presence of the students on Tuesday.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Education Deepak Sharma said that they are trying to conduct the examination as soon as possible in coordination with the CCMC. Sharma said, “We are making arrangements for the students to take the exam in physical attendance from the school where they have studied by fulfilling the health criteria.”

He said that preparations are being made to decide on the Class 12 examination immediately as the examination may be delayed only after all the students have been vaccinated. “Even if it is immediate, it will take some time,” said spokesperson Sharma.
