Acharya elected as parliamentary party leader, sworn in as chief minister today
BIRATNAGAR: AUGUST 26 – The politics of change of power that started on 20 December 2020 has reached State 1 as well. After the CPN (UML) officially split and became the CPN (Unified Socialist), its effect has been seen in State 1 as well.
After the federal government collapsed due to internal strife within the CPN-UML, which was still in the majority, the then UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal registered the CPN (Unified Socialist) and this has affected the politics of the state. As a result, Bhim Acharya, who has been on the side of Madhav Nepal for a long time, has been elected as the leader of the parliamentary party of State 1. He is being appointed as the Chief Minister today.
He is preparing to take an oath as the leader of the majority party. UML leaders have reached the office of the state chief for the oath.
Bhim Acharya has been elected as the leader of the parliamentary party after Sherdhan Rai, who was elected as the leader of the parliamentary party in January 2018, resigned from the post today. Earlier, Rai from the establishment party and Bhim Acharya from the Madhav Kumar Nepal group had contested the election. Rai defeated Acharya by two votes and was elected the leader of the parliamentary party and became the Chief Minister.
Acharya, who lost the party despite being strong in numbers, is now becoming the Chief Minister with the help of Rai. MPs and leaders were outraged after Acharya’s rude image and allegations of taking money from candidates during the local elections.
