POKHARA: AUGUST 26 – The Rahughat river in Myagdi has been blocked. The river was blocked by a landslide in Raikhor of Raghuganga Village Municipality on Thursday morning. According to locals, the landslide occurred at Gaudamuni on the border of Ward No. 6 and 7.
Locals have posted videos on social media after the landslide turned into a lake. According to Chairman Bhav Bahadur Bhandari, the landslide has created a lake and it could cause more damage in the area below Galeshwor. “There is no settlement in the place of detention. In 2057 BS, 48 houses were displaced due to landslides. Rahughat is a tributary of the Kaligandaki River. In the coastal area, 48.5 MW Upper Rahughat Hydropower Project Power House and 40 MW Rahughat Hydropower Project Dam are under construction.
