India opens the dam terror in Darchula
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 26 – Areas around the Mahakali River in Darchula are at risk of flooding after India opened the dam of the Dhauliganga Hydropower Project in Tapovan Dharchula.
According to the information issued by the Darchula District Administration Office, India has opened the gates of the reservoir at 7 am saying that the reservoir of the project is filled with water, sand and soil. Due to which, the risk of flood in the riparian area of Mahakali River has increased from Byans Rural Municipality-5 of Darchula, Dhaulakot to Lali of Lekam Rural Municipality.
Chief District Officer of Darchula Siddharaj Joshi has issued a notice to the residents of the riparian area of the Mahakali River to be vigilant as the gates of the dam will be kept open till 7 pm.
