ITAHARI: AUGUST 25 – Over the last 20 years, Wai Wai has actively promoted Nepali music and talent across Nepal. Now with new, affordable technologies and fast internet, young talent and studios are emerging across Nepal.

Unfortunately many don’t get the exposure that their talent deserves and brands are focused on hiring talent based in Kathmandu most of the time.

To break this cycle, Wai Wai introduced the Haami Sabaiko Wai Wai Jingle Remix contest on World Music Day on the 21st of June 2021.

Through Social Media, we invited young musicians, singers and composers from across Nepal to participate by sending in their remix versions of the original Jingle to our Haami Sabaiko Wal Wai Jingle Remix contest page.

The contest was active for a period of 1 month and entries were closed on the 21st of July. We thank Jems Pradhan, Sanjay Shrestha, Nabin Bhattarai and Rohit Chettri to come onboard and actively motivate young talent to participate in this one of a kind contest. We received an overwhelming response, 62 entries from all across Nepal. What surprised us was the diversity of music.

The entries came in many different genres – from rap to pop, rock to local Nepali classical all were represented in many of the compositions. The richness in production values, technological expertise and the professional level from entries from outside Kathmandu was really inspiring. The freshness of talent seen in the entries leads us to believe that Nepali music and musicians from across Nepal can really thrive with consistent corporate support.

It was indeed a difficult task to shortlist the entries to just ten and select the final winner. The shortlisted participants are from all over Nepal. Out of which only one will be selected today as the winner of the Haami Sabai ko Wai Wai Jingle Remix Contest 2021 and take home a prize amount of 1 lakh Rupees.

We will thank each and every participant for their spontaneity, hard work and contribution towards music.
