The case against Kulman is in the bench of Chief Justice Rana

KATHMANDU; AUGUST 24 – The case against the re-appointment of Kulman Ghising as the Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is being heard today.

Hitendra Dev Shakya had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court claiming that he was removed from the post of executive director of Nepal Electricity Authority. The writ petition filed by Shakya has been heard in the bench of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana.

In the writ petition, Shakya has demanded that the government unjustly remove Ghising and re-appoint him for the rest of his term. The cabinet meeting held on 9 August decided to re-appoint Ghising to NEA and Shakya as an expert in the Energy Commission.

His writ petition was heard in the bench of Justice Kumar Regmi. However, the hearing was adjourned for today as it was not possible to watch it that day. Earlier, as Ghising’s term was coming to an end, the Oli government was also under pressure from the people to extend Ghising’s tenure.
