Poudel’s party claims to have a joint candidate against Deuba

KATHMANDU: AUGUST 23 – Parties other than the establishment of the Nepali Congress have claimed to have decided on a common candidate in the General Convention. Leaders have claimed that a meeting of Poudel’s party leaders held in Kathmandu on Monday agreed to decide a common candidate before the ward convention.

During the discussion, senior leader Poudel and General Secretary Dr Shashank Koirala, leaders Prakashman Singh, Dr Shekhar Koirala, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, Bal Bahadur KC, Arjun Narasimha KC, Sujata Koirala and others were present.

Leader Bal Bahadur KC informed that today’s meeting agreed to decide a common candidate from other parties and to hold continuous discussions for the same. From this party, senior leaders Poudel, leaders Singh, Dr Shekhar and Dr Sashank have announced their candidacies for the post. Similarly, Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi, who was in favour of Deuba earlier, has also said that he will run for the post.

As there are many aspirants, the Poudel group has been able to decide the candidate in the general convention. Chairman Deuba has also said that he will be a candidate for the upcoming general convention.

The Congress has postponed the date for the fifth time and said that the central level general convention will be held from 25 to 29 November and the lower level convention will be held from 3 September and 14 general conventions will be held in Kathmandu from 25 to 29 November.
