Most of the Tribhuvan University campuses do not even cover their expenses, these are the earning campuses
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 23 – Of the 61 affiliated campuses of Tribhuvan University, 55 have not been able to meet their own expenses.
Only six campuses including Nepal Commerce Campus Min Bhawan, Pokhara Medical Campus, Public Administration Campus, Nepal Law Campus, Prithvinarayan Campus and Shankardev Campus have covered their expenses from internal revenue. The total income of these campuses is Rs. 1.11 billion 21 million. This is 20 per cent of the total income of the university.
According to the Office of the Auditor General, there are 33 campuses earning less than 25 per cent of their expenses. Similarly, 14 campuses have been earning less than 10 per cent of the expenditure.
The accountant general has mentioned that the Tribhuvan University 55 campus has not been able to meet its expenses due to not looking for additional sources of income, neglecting even the existing sources of income, student fees have not increased for a long time and the number of teachers and staff has not decreased compared to the number of students.
