KATHMANDU: AUGUST 20 – Mahanta Thakur-Rajendra Mahato faction has changed the name of the party. Leader Keshav Jha informed Makalu Khabar that it has been decided to change the name of the party to the Democratic Socialist Party (LOSAPA). “There is a consensus in the Democratic Socialist Party,” Jha said. “This is the last one.”

The Thakur-Mahato faction had applied to the Election Commission for registration of JSP Nepal (Democratic) after the government brought an ordinance to split the party by increasing the number of parliamentary parties or the Central Committee to 20 per cent. However, the Thakur-Mahato faction reached the commission with LOSAPA and applied for registration after the commission asked them not to use any ‘adjective’ in the party which was already registered.
