KATHMANDU: AUGUST 19 – UML leaders have met Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota to understand the action taken against 14 lawmakers including Madhav Kumar Nepal. Leaders including UML Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai also met Speaker Sapkota to remove lawmakers. After meeting him, Bhattarai asked, “Why was no action taken?”

Bhattarai told Makalu Khabar that talks are underway between UML leader and Speaker Sapkota. “Talks are going on now,” Bhattarai said. “We are wondering why no action has been taken.”

An earlier UML standing committee meeting had taken action against 14 lawmakers, including leader Nepal. The Speaker should inform the Parliament about the action or by posting the information. However, Speaker Sapkota has not done so.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Nepal group had already applied to the Election Commission for registration of the CPN-UML (Socialist) Party. The commission has stated that it will complete the process and register.
