Preparations to make Astha Laxmi Shakya the Chief Minister of Bagmati

KATHMANDU: AUGUST 18 – CPN-UML has decided to make party vice-chairperson and state assembly member Astha Laxmi Shakya the chief minister of Bagmati state.

The UML is preparing to make Shakya the Chief Minister of Bagmati State as per the strategy of preventing him from joining the new party after the split.

As UML chief Bishnu Prasai was out, Chief Minister Poudel agreed to resign as soon as he returned and make Shakya the new chief minister, said a UML lawmaker.

Before resigning from the post of Chief Minister, Poudel resigned from the post of parliamentary party leader and the party meeting accepted his resignation and formed a three-member committee to select the party leader.

UML has 56 MPs in the 110-member state assembly.
