Floods again in Melamchi: Three more houses flooded

SINDHUPALCHOWK: AUGUST 18 – Three more houses have been swept away by the flood in the Melamchi River last night along with incessant rains. Local Bhimsen Thapa informed that the houses of Melamchi-6 Nepane Bagar were flooded.

According to him, the houses of locals Krishna Bahadur, Bhoj Bahadur and Dipesh Thapa were flooded. Additional homes and roads are also at risk. These houses were at risk from the previous floods and goods and people have been relocated, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Daksha Kumar Basnet. The floods since July 31 have washed away 111 houses so far.

Five people have been killed, six injured and 20 are missing in the floods that have been raging since June 15 and 31. Hundreds of houses, farms, bridges and roads along the Melamchi River are at risk.
