Emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers continues, ordinance regarding the coming party split?
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 17 – Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a meeting of the Council of Ministers while the government is discussing bringing an ordinance on a party split. Although usually held on Mondays and Thursdays, Prime Minister Deuba is expected to bring an ordinance on party split as he convened an emergency cabinet meeting on Tuesday. The cabinet meeting is being held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.
The regular meeting of the Council of Ministers was held yesterday. Prime Minister Deuba also had a discussion with the leaders of JSP leader Mahanta Thakur’s party this morning.
It is being discussed that the government is preparing to recommend the ordinance to the President to make it easier for senior UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal to split the party. The regular session of the parliament has ended on the recommendation of the government.
