KATHMANDU: AUGUST 16 – The government has decided to rescue Nepalis in Afghanistan as soon as possible. Government spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki informed that the decision was taken at a cabinet meeting held on Monday. “Taking serious note of the developments in Afghanistan, it has been decided to rescue the Nepalese living there safely and expeditiously and to direct the concerned bodies of the Government of Nepal to work in a coordinated manner,” Karki said.

Spokesperson Karki said that the Nepali government has drawn the attention of the British to the ongoing hunger strike in London demanding to solve the remaining problems of the British Gurkha soldiers.

Spokesperson Karki said that the government was committed to resolving the issue through diplomatic initiatives. “They will be called to end the hunger strike and the government will take a diplomatic initiative with the British government,” Karki said.
