Tottenham’s thrilling win over defending champions City
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 16 – Tottenham have beaten defending champions Manchester City in the English Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur got off to a winning start in the league with a 1-0 win over City in the first game of the season.
South Korean forward Son Heung-min scored the only goal for Tottenham in the second half. In Tottenham’s home game, City failed to win despite scoring a few goals.
In the 55th minute, Son took control of Steven Bergwijn’s pass in a counter-attack and turned it into a long shot.
Tottenham then missed out on the One Versus One. Tottenham did not include star forward Harry Kane in the squad. No agreement has been reached between the two clubs as Kane prepares to move to Manchester City.
Tottenham’s newly appointed coach Nuno Espirito is excited about beating a strong club in the first game. He said that Kane was not included in the team due to a lack of practice. English winger Jack Grealish, who has a contract at City for a record price, made his Premier League debut.
However, he did not perform any miracles. Coach Pep Guardiola was once again stunned at Tottenham’s home ground. Earlier, West Ham had beaten Newcastle United 4-2 in the first match on Sunday.
