Barcelona’s victorious start
KATHMANDU: AUGUST 16 – Barcelona has started the new season of Spanish La Liga with a victory. Barcelona beat Real Sociedad 4-2 at Camp Nou.
After losing their star forward Lionel Messi in a free transfer this season, Barcelona got off to a winning start with Denis forward Martin Braithwaite scoring twice and Pique and Roberto equalizing.
Gerard Pique opened the scoring in the 19th minute. Braithwaite doubled the team’s lead during the injury time of the first half. Braithwaite scored his second individual goal in the 59th minute to put Barcelona in a comfortable position.
Julen Lobete scored in the 82nd minute to put Sociedad back in the game. Three minutes later, Mikel Oyarazbal reduced the lead with a goal. But Sergi Roberto scored in the second minute of injury time to seal Barcelona’s victory.
